As founder and CEO, John is responsible for driving the current and long-range vision of the company. Through his guidance, Complete Payroll Solutions has grown from a start-up venture into one of the largest and fastest growing privately held payroll and employee benefits companies in the country, serving more than 7,000 business customers with expert help from over 150 employees. John is also a fully licensed insurance and investment principal and is CEO of Complete Benefit Solutions, a sister company to the payroll enterprise. John brings more than 35 years of management leadership in the financial services and payroll industries and holds a BA in Economics and Political Science from Amherst College in Massachusetts.

With more than 30 years in the business, John’s built a dynamic team of industry-leading experts. John is a native of Sturbridge, Massachusetts, where he has established the Tantasqua Education Foundation, providing educational programs for hundreds of elementary and high school students.

Michael Pettengill

Michael has 25 years of industry experience.  He has been with Complete Payroll Solutions since the company’s inception and is responsible for the oversight of channel partnerships. During his first 10 years, he was with InterPay and Paychex where he drove business development and managed channel partnerships with Fleet Bank and Bank of America. Michael holds a BBA from the University of  Massachusetts, Amherst and is an active volunteer in his community.

Since 2003, Sherri has played an integral role in growing Complete Payroll Solutions. She brings more than 25 years of experience in payroll management and support as Regional Operations Manager for InterPay Inc., where she oversaw the onboarding of more than 10,000 new clients annually. Sherri is an active member in several payroll and human resource professional associations.

One of the five original employees of Complete Payroll Solutions, David leads the sales team by example, applying his knowledge and enthusiasm to deliver consistent sales and growth. He has more than 25 years sales and sales management experience in the payroll and benefits industry, with such respected companies as KPMG Peat Marwick, InterPay and ADP. David holds a BS in business administration from Bryant University.

Brian has nearly twenty years of experience in strategic sales in the payroll industry. He began his leadership career in the payroll industry as a Senior District Sales Manager for Paychex for 12 years before becoming Director of Sales for the company. Most recently, he served as a Major Account Regional Sales Manager with ADP. Brian received a BA in sociology from Merrimack College.

Karyn Rhodes

Karyn brings more than 30 years of senior-level experience in human resources best practices to Complete Payroll Solutions, where she serves as Vice President/Director. She specializes in all areas of human resources, including strategic planning, employee and labor relations, recruiting, compliance, training and development, compensation and benefits, policies and procedures, organizational development, executive coaching, workforce planning, and affirmative action plans. Karyn has worked as an instructor for Bryant University and Cape Cod Community College, served on the Board of Directors for RI SHRM, and was a member of the Board of Directors for NEBA (formerly SBANE). She is a national and regional speaker on HR related topics.  She holds a BS in Business Administration from Northeastern University, an advanced certification in Human Resource Management from Bryant University, and is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources and SHRM-Senior Certified Professional.

Apryl L. Worden

For the past 10 years, Apryl has managed Complete Payroll Solutions tax and compliance operations and has had a superb record of client satisfaction. With more than 20 years in the industry, she has held a variety of positions, including supervisor of new client setup and regional operations support specialist for Paychex and InterPay. Apryl holds a BA from the University of New Hampshire and is a member of the American Payroll Association (APA) and Independent Payroll Providers Association (IPPA).

Previously, she was with InterPay, where she began her career as a payroll specialist while attending college. Christine went on to be a senior operations manager before moving into a finance management position. Christine graduated from Our Lady of the Elms College in Massachusetts with a BSBA in Accounting.

Carmen started with Complete Payroll Solutions in 2003 as an Implementation Specialist and quickly moved into the role of Client Relations Manager where she was responsible for ensuring 100% accurate payroll conversions and exceptional customer service. Currently, she manages the Implementation and Payroll Departments. Carmen holds an AS in Hospitality and Small Business Management from Holyoke Community College in Massachusetts.

Peter Rutkowski is our Payroll & Implementation Manager for our integrated Payroll and HCM (Human Capital Management) platform. Peter provides leadership and oversight to our payroll and implementation team and is responsible for overseeing the delivery of on-time and high-quality payroll, HR and Benefit implementation and ongoing day to day support for our clients.  In his role, Peter is responsible for ensuring that our CPS partnership with our clients delivers up to our promise to provide outstanding payroll and HR technology and services through personal, local support and unmatched client service.

IT Director

Tony is our technology maestro responsible for managing and maintaining Complete Payroll Solutions’ IT infrastructure, including overseeing all projects related to the company’s long- and short-term technology objectives. Tony’s role covers strategy and execution of our growing network and data delivery systems, disaster recovery, vendor and advisor relationships and more. Most important may be his work recommending new products and building on existing IT-related hardware, software, procedures and training. Tony has more than 19 years in the IT industry.

Kathy has nearly 25 years of experience in HR with a focus in the payroll, HR consulting and ASO industries and has been the HR & Talent Manager for Complete Payroll Solutions since 2016. Kathy has served in a variety of HR management, marketing, and HRIS implementation roles at mid-sized businesses throughout her career.  She provides guidance on HR practices including strategic planning, workplace best practices, employee engagement, organizational development, project management, performance measurement, training and compliance with State, Federal and Local labor laws.

Sean has 20 years of sales experience, most recently as district sales manager SMB Solutions at Paychex, where he was named the 2011 District Sales Manager of the Year, New England Region. Previously, he worked in sales in broadcast media and professional hockey. Sean received a BA and MBA from Clark University.

He also works to develop new partners in the region. He joins Complete Payroll Solutions with 18 years of experience in the industry, most recently serving as a Senior Field Sales Manager at Paychex, Inc., where he previously held other sales positions in both New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Chris graduated with an MFA in Graphic Design from Plymouth State University and is currently working towards his Global MBA from Southern New Hampshire University.

Julia joins Complete Payroll Solutions with 20 years of experience in the industry, most recently serving as a District Sales Manager and Circle of Excellence Sales Representative at Paychex, Inc. Previously, she was a Platinum Club sales performer at InterPay Payroll, Inc. She is responsible for new client onboarding and transitioning existing clients to select payroll platforms for optimal HR integration depending on their needs. She also manages relationships with the organization’s key financial partners.

Justin has local expertise in managing and developing new partners in the region like Webster Bank. Justin has been in the industry for 13 years, with over 10 of those being with CPS. Previous to CPS, Justin was with Paychex in the retirement and benefits division responsible for Westchester County, NY, and Fairfield County, CT. Prior to that, Justin started his career on Wall St. in the investment banking world helping incubate businesses to prepare for larger fundraises and structuring benefit packages to hire and attract top talent.
